I hesitate to call myself an "artist", preferring "painter." I consider Vermeer, Rafael, Monet, Sargent, and Hopper "artists" and I am uncomfortable using the word to describe myself.

I first picked up a paint brush in 2003, and I have not received formal training at an art school. Instead, I continue to learn from other painters informally and at workshops.

Although I continue to experiment, my overactive brain conjures landscape and figurative images in a loose traditional style, sometimes with a touch of humor. I have been seduced by the lovely, buttery texture of oil paint, and it is my preferred medium.
