I hesitate to call myself an "artist", preferring "painter." I consider Vermeer, Rafael, Monet, Sargent, and Hopper "artists" and I am uncomfortable using the word to describe myself. I first picked up a paint brush in 2003, and I have not received formal training at an art school. Instead, I continue to learn from artists at workshops at the Mendocino Art Center and Point Reyes Field Seminars, as well as classes at the Palo Alto Art Center and the Pacific Art League. I continue to experiment and I have not yet found a particular style or subject that I wish to focus on. I have, however, been seduced by the lovely, buttery texture of oil paint, and it is my preferred medium. Some of my work can be purchased at the Mendocino Art Center. I usually show my work during open studios annually.
